HEY GUYS!
happy easter 2009! what a fantastic weekend - really feel quite sad for pple who missed it! this year the drama really answered some of life's most difficult questions..
1. Is love is really a choice? If Silas had been successful in forcing his daughter to love him.. will it still be real love then?
But God gave us free will. A choice to love Him as our Heavenly Father, a choice to come cellgroup, a choice to come service, a choice to serve, to tithe.. He has never forced us to obey Him - it's always a choice.
2. Do sinners really deserve a 2nd chance? Silas at the beginning says if a man can be changed, his past mistakes should not be held against him - but he changed his mind when it was about his own wife's murderer!
Doesn't that echo many of our attitudes? We may say one thing.. "I think so and so is wrong to judge people." but we ourselves could be judging other people. We live in a world filled with double standards and hypocrisy when really all it takes is a day's walk in another man's shoes.
3. Silas (Barabbas) at the cross: "Jesus, I killed a man - but You took my place!"
Many of us would have missed that out.. but that cry of despair really spoke into my heart. Jesus was innocent, but He willingly took our place, took every wrong thing we have done and forgave us.
That's the real message of Easter isn't it? Forgiveness. (:
